flywyn Privacy Policy

Who we are

flywyn is an iPhone app made by Know-Ware LLC, a Connecticut limited liability company ("we" or "us"). This policy explains what information flywyn uses and where it goes.

Information we collect

None. flywyn does not ask you to sign up and does not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, or any other personal information. flywyn contains no advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking code, and it does not track you across other apps or websites.

Location

flywyn uses your iPhone's GPS to show your position, altitude, speed, distance to your destination, and your flight path. With your permission, iOS gives flywyn your location so the app can display it.

• Your location is processed only on your device and is never sent to us.
• If you allow location access "Always", flywyn uses it to keep recording your breadcrumb trail and to finish downloading maps while the screen is locked during a trip.
• You can change or turn off location access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → flywyn. flywyn needs location access to work.

Information stored on your iPhone

flywyn keeps the following on your device only. Deleting the app deletes it.

• Saved trips. If you tap Save after a flight, your breadcrumb trail (positions, altitudes, and times) is saved as a file in flywyn's folder in the Files app.
• Offline maps. Downloaded map images, which you can delete from the app.
• Settings. Your choice of miles or kilometers and similar preferences.
• Diagnostic log. A local log of GPS, map, and location status, including positions, used only for troubleshooting. You can clear it from the help screen.

Maps from OpenStreetMap

flywyn downloads map images from the OpenStreetMap Foundation's tile servers so the map works offline. As with loading any web page, those servers receive your device's IP address and which map areas are requested. The areas flywyn requests include the region around your current position and your chosen destination. flywyn sends no account, name, or other personal information with these requests. The OpenStreetMap Foundation's handling of this data is described in its privacy policy.

When you contact us

If you email us, or choose to send us your diagnostic log or a saved trip file, we use what you send only to answer you and fix problems. We don't add you to a mailing list or share your message, and we delete diagnostic logs once the issue is resolved.

Crash reports from Apple

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may give us anonymous crash and usage reports that do not identify you. You can change this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

Sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information. Because flywyn doesn't collect it, we have none to share.

Children

flywyn does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we change how flywyn handles information, we will update this page and the effective date above before the change takes effect.
